Tenant Creek Falls I Tenant Creek Falls I

Between 7-20-2010 and 7-23-2010, I hiked 28 miles of the Wilcox Lake Wild Forest, Adirondack Park, NY. I captured the beauty of the Wilcox Lake area, as well as all three waterfalls on Tenant Creek Falls Trail.

I wrote two trail reviews: Wilcox Lake and Tenant Creek Falls. Due to downpours on my first and last day, I was unable to photograph much of the Wilcox Lake Trail. Fortunately, the trail contained nothing especially remarkable, except for old growth trees.

  1. Pumpkin Hollow Rd, Wilcox Lake Wild Forest, Adirondack Park. Both shoulders offer parking for multiple vehicles 1.6 miles from NY-30. Suggested to park here for Wilcox Lake hike.

  4. Shortly after the parking area on Pumpkin Hollow Rd, the pavement ends. The dirt road deteriorates as it progresses towards the Willis Lake trailhead, sometimes becoming impassable. A municipal truck with a york rake grades the road.

  5. Like Murphy and Middle Lake in the Southern Adirondacks, Wilcox Lake had a canoe. However, this one was cracked and the ores were nearly a mile down the lake shore

  6. The shape of this flower reminded me of a bird. Adirondack Park, NY.

  9. At lean-to junction on Wilcox Lake, this lean-to is on the right. Compared to the left one, this is a smaller and less adorned lean-to with not as good of a view. However, the fireplace is closer, which is nice for drying gear inside the lean-to if it is raining, if you can tolerate the smoke.

  12. Going left .4mi, my favorite lean-to with a good view. Going right, is a nice lean-to with another good view.

  18. I found the East Stony Creek Trail generally easy and well maintained. The preferred route to Wilcox Lake
