Developed a system for backpacking photography. Chest mounted camera and gear allows me to keep the camera out of my backpack and right in front of me so I can easily take pictures.
I was frustrated keeping my camera in my backpack, having to dig it out each time I needed it. Wearing it unprotected by the neck strap during a hike is a death wish for the camera.
I’ve actively used this system on three trips with success. If it rains, I stow my gear in a dry bag. I wrote an essay in which I outline the gear I take with me as well. This is professional level stuff, but it may have features of interest to the novice.
Completed a four day trek in the Adirondacks. Published a review and image gallery of Wilcox Lake Trail, East Stony Creek Trail, and Tenant Creek Falls Trail. I traveled about 28 miles round trip.
I reviewed Wilcox Lake including both trails, and reviewed Tenant Creek Falls separately . I wrapped the whole trek into one image gallery .
I was stuck in a holding pattern for a week waiting for a good string of weather. Unfortunately, my best chance contained intermittent downpours. However, I was able to photograph all the remarkable features of my journey.
I hiked both approaches to Wilcox Lake , Adirondack Park, NY. From the parking area near Willis Lake, the Wilcox Lake Trail is 6.3 miles. I foun
Twitter Updates, Blog Post

I now include tweets for each blog post. Follow me at http://twitter.com/chrisbemis
I mistakenly avoided twitter because of the irrelevant posting I associate it with. I overlooked the useful aspects of the service.
Twitter challenges me to be focused and succinct. Taking out characters for links to blog posts, I am currently limited to 85 characters to convey the heart of a message. A follower scans the tweets from a dedicated application, choosing whether to spend time visiting my site. This allows greater efficiency or laziness for the end user.
I have a habit of playing with my photographs on Adobe Photoshop, creating various abstract effects. I just published a gallery in which I explore quadrilateral shapes.
Completed a three day camping trip in Adirondack Park. First camping experience in over a year, as far as I can remember.
Hiked to Murphy Lake from Creek Road in Hamilton County, NY. Part of the Southern Adirondack region. Wrote the following article and posted the following image gallery as a guide.
Intended to hike Wilcox Lake Trail and Stony Creek Trail, but decided to go easy on first hike of the year. I find it is best to work out all the gear issues on a smaller expedition, working out the kinks in the system before going greater distances.
Site Redesign

I have revamped chrisbemis.com, and included an option to purchase images in my gallery.
Previously existing galleries will not have images for sale because they were shot on a consumer oriented camera. Although I love the images I shot during my adventures, I have not yet ascertained their quality when printed.
I recently purchased a Nikon D700 with some other professional level equipment. I find the quality of my new photography equipment very satisfying. I hope to share some interesting content in the coming months.
I have added a blog to inform visitors of any changes on the website or any significant progress of my studies.
I am featuring a new section called ‘Media Review,” which is yet in it’s infancy. I hope to chronicle the research material that formulates my way of thinking.
My main objective, as anyone with a website may lament, is to keep up to date with interesting content. In designing this new version of the website, I have let the old one fall apart.
